This is a nice free camp and a very popular spot. You are only supposed to stay here for a maximum of 48 hours, but unfortunately lots of people abuse this privilege and stay longer.
You were not permitted to have fires, but it had beautiful lush green grass and hills for the kids to ride and run around on. A man we met at Woodgate Caravan Park also camped here for one night, so it was nice to have a cuppa and a chat with him.
Another camper was a hairdresser and she was doing cuts for $10. Stuart and the boys had a well overdue haircut right there on the side of the river! She did quite a few haircuts that day, not a bad way to earn some money on the road!
On the Calliope River there was a Historical Village, so we went a checked it out. It was quite interesting finding out about the history of the area.
Our next stop is in a caravan park as we need to have a shower and fill up our water tank!
