There was not heaps to do at Mount Surprise but it was a great stop. We met a lovely family also from Victoria. Craig and Julie have two girls Ella and Keely. We sat chatting and swapping stories for a long time, they are also on the road and have been travelling for 6 months.

The manager of the Caravan park "Russell" is also a snake handler and
does snake shows for the campers. He
bought out a black headed python and literally threw it around Ashton’s
neck! I'm glad Ashton had recently
held a snake and wasn’t too phased by that!
The snake “Clancy” got passed around for all to have a hold off and then was
rewarded with some dinner. Russell went over to a cage and grabbed out a live rat and gave it to
Clancy to firstly kill by strangling, and then devour for dinner. Quite a fascinating but disgusting site to see! This process took about 30 minutes as Clancy
wasn’t a very quick eater. Russell also
bought out another of his pets “Molly” the water python. Josh had a great time with Molly until she
got quite friendly wrapping herself around his neck 3 times. Poor Josh was bright red but Russell assured
me Molly was just trying to warm herself up and not strangle my son! I don’t particularly like snakes and didn’t hold any, but l did touch the skin which was enough for me. We then had to
endure watching Molly eat her dinner too!
Tomorrow we are off to Croydon!
